CIVIC GREEN FACADE

Retrofit Green Wall_Port Melbourne VIC. Australia _Design Completed 2013

The headquarters for various arts based organisations supported by the City of Port Phillip, the proposed greenery softens and animates the existing utilitarian facades, creating an inspiring building reflective of the civic and create programme within. The entry forecourt created by the green façade structure forges a memorable identity for the building and improves its interface with the street and pedestrians. Green wall fins add texture and movement along the façade while providing interesting views to greenery from within and shading from the morning sun.

This project was commissioned as a case study for the Growing Green Guide for Melbourne Project. The much anticipated Victoria’s Guide to Green Roofs, Walls and Facades is scheduled for release in early 2014. A draft version of the guide is currently available for public viewing and feedback on http://growinggreenguide.org/.
