LOOSE-FIT SUBURB

Medium Density Housing_Moe VIC. Australia_Design Completed 2007

Critical of the presumption that a ‘sustainable’ house means a ‘sustainable’ city, this self-initiated scheme considers a holistic vision of a sustainable community with a critique of lot configuration, housing density, streetscape relationship and resident interaction within the context of the largely homogenous suburban fabric of an established regional town.  This project carefully negotiates preconceived expectations of dwelling size and amenity as the relationship between three distinct dimensions of habitation - the room, the house and the suburb – are intensified.
